After leaving a business partnership that was not right for me, I started my own dog training business from scratch. Using marking principles and strategic content creation, I built that business into a thriving success, with over 12K followers on Instagram and a loyal community of clients.
Along the way, I discovered how much I love to teach the power of organic marketing—how connecting authentically with people can lead to incredible business growth.

My journey to build my training business, Freed by Training, and become the Dog Biz Nerd is anything but traditional. I have a B.S. in Advertising and a background in strategy and communication.
But it wasn’t until I spent five years incarcerated that I truly discovered my calling.
During that time, I found a sense of purpose in training dogs—a purpose that gave me hope and direction when I needed it most.
What makes my approach unique is how I’ve woven together my business and marketing background with the profound, life-changing experience of learning to train dogs in a challenging environment.
I know what it’s like to start from scratch, to face obstacles head-on, and to build something meaningful from the ground up.
